Harris Park,
shades of grey
snow heaped on evergreens, reminescent
of ceramic Christmas trees
yet clinging to even the smallest of branches.
Colours of water and concrete
meld into each other,
broken only by a flash of a brilliant
green mallard neck
Ducks, caught in the current,
seemingly race down the river
while one graceful swan peacefully
floats amidst a gaggle
of Canadian Geese.
Other geese skid into their landings,
honks and splashes
announce their arrival.
Cold, but with a sense
of calm and serenity,
we head back to the world.
