Musings from the edge

I love autumn. I love to see the leaves turn brilliant colours and I like the temperatures falling so that you can bring out the sweaters again. I know that this summer has not been all that great weather wise, but there’s something about the air in the autumn. It’s a crisp feeling that makes you feel glad to be alive.

Marco and I went to Niagara Falls last weekend for his birthday. The weather was perfect. We did the whole tourist thing with the Ripley’s Moving Theatre, the Butterfly Conservatory, the new casino and walking down by the falls. We even went to Hooters for his birthday dinner. If I had to rank the trip out of 10, it was a definite 10. I’m still working on my site and adding a pictures link to either it or this one, so when I get it figured out, I will add the pictures there. I am trying also, not to be on the computer so much. It’s amazing how much of your time seems to disappear when you start playing around on the computer.

I haven’t written much lately, I haven’t done much of anything lately, mostly due to working overtime on my days off and just being too tired when I get home but that is all about to change. I am finishing up working overtime this week and then I am going to get back to doing things that I used to do to pass the time. There are so many things that I used to do for relaxation; ceramics, cooking and making my own clothes. I think it’s about time to get back to these things, especially since Christmas is coming soon. Yes, folks, I said the C word. Oh yeah, and I have an afghan to finish.

Joanna is going to the new boyfriend’s parents for Thanksgiving. She’s worried about whether they will like her. Personally, I don’t see why they wouldn’t but then again, I’m biased considering I’m the one who taught her how to act (and not to act) in front of company. I think I did an okay job. I met Ryan and from what I can see, he seems to be the kind of guy that I would want to see her with and he had to have been raised by someone so I would think that his parents would be very nice people. You have to learn manners from someone and it’s usually your parents.

No Thanksgiving dinner in my house – both Rachel and I work. Rachel is, however, making a couple of Pumpkin Pies, one for Joanna to take to Ryan’s and one for her father to take to his mom’s for dinner. Rachel is one of the best cooks ever and when she gets into a baking mood, only good things result – Treats!!

Work is just that – work. There’s always drama in someone’s life and when you work in a call centre of 800 people, you don’t have to look far to find it and that’s all that I have to say about that.

It’s almost my birthday. It’s funny, when you consider how Joanna looks forward to her birthday, that I could care less. It’s just another day. I do appreciate that people try to make it special, don’t get me wrong, but it’s always more important to me that I make theirs something to remember. I’ve always been that way and I don’t see it changing in the near future.
